Time in the Country

Our children always appreciated educational experiences beyond the classroom as they went through the Oregon School system.  As educational minded parents, and now grandparents, we have opened our small farm to students and adults to give them an experience not available in the classroom.

We are located on the northeast edge of Oregon and have a sheep farm.  Visits are informative and educational for youth and adults.

Early spring, the visits will be in an 11,000+ sq. ft. indoor facility.  This will be the time lambs are being born and will include information appropriate for the group.

From late April on, the visits will be primarily out of doors.  The sheep will then be on pasture. To better accommodate our visitors, all tours are scheduled and tours will vary as the season progresses.  A minimum of 15 visitors are needed for a farm tour.  Farm tour visits are best when scheduled between March 10 and the end of June.

Because of the large number of tour groups visiting the farm in the spring, it is best to reserve desired dates and times well in advance.

We are located about 5 minutes from the center of downtown Oregon or 10 miles south of the Wisconsin State Capitol in Madison, easily accessible by buses.

Alice was a nurse with pediatrics training and was a hospital supervisor at St. Mary's in Madison.  Ray recently retired from the University where he was Extension Horse Specialist with a major responsibility in youth programming.

School grade breakdowns and subject matter content are available for our tours.  Each visit will be approximately one hour in length and this can be adjusted. It would not include food; however, visitors can bring food and drink.  Weekday student youth group fee is $3.50 per person.

Alterations could be made on sessions content to coincide with classroom subject matter, or more specific group's interest.

To meet the many requests received, spring shearing will be open to visitors.  Then bounce into spring with a visit to the A-Z Farm open lambing barn.  Come see the newborn lambs as a family outing, a group or as an individual.  "Time in the Country" with a visit to the A-Z Farm will be interesting and informative.

Thank you!
