With spring coming it is time to step into the world of sheep by visiting the A-Z Farm in Oregon.  Seeing this farm in action will offer an interesting and educational experience.
A Lamb is Born
The farm's major emphasis is on sheep, as well as raising the spring-born lambs, poultry, rabbits and a few horses.  They anticipate the arrival of 200 lambs from the flock of 100 eyes.  A-Z farm can provide direct contact with farm animals and explain how they are a part of agriculture and contribute to a wholesome safe environment.

The animals of major attraction are the newborn lambs.  Visitors will learn about these wooly creatures, while being able to touch the lambs and other farm animals.  There are black and spotted lambs in addition to the natural white.  Lambs are the center attraction as they play king of the mountain on bales of straw.
     The lamb-birthing barn will be offered Sunday, March 13, 20 and 27, 2005 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Admission will be $3.50 per person, ages 2 and under are admitted free of charge.  The farm is located at 1820 Schuster Road, Oregon.  Directions to the farm are available on the Web site, www.a-zfarm.com or by calling Ray and Alice Antoniewicz at 835-5553.
In addition to the animals, there will be educational exhibits and displays, demonstrators spinning yarn for wool, wool blankets, wool pelts and vendors with wool and sheep related merchandise.  The animals, vendors, activities and displays will be in the sheep barn.

It is increasingly more of a challenge for people to experience and learn about agriculture, which is a vital part of their daily life.  Farming is becoming more specialized and the active farm population shrinking.  The average person does not know where their food and related items come from.

The A-Z family wants to provide an interesting and educational experience relating to a phase of animal agriculture and life on the farm.  They offer direct contact with farm animals and explain how they are a part of agriculture and contribute to a safe environment.  The farm is open to people to give them an opportunity most visitors probably wouldn't get on their own.  Visitors have enjoyed the fun and informative hands-on contact by being able to touch farm animals.
